A Spiritual Perspective On Having A Disabled Child
Wonderful Gifts Come In Unexpected Ways!
Today I wanted to discuss spirituality and disability which is something really close to my heart. Around seven years ago I gave birth to my absolutely wonderful, but severely disabled son Saafi. Saafi has cerebral palsy, we’re not sure if it happened in the womb or during birth but Saafi suffered brain damage and was left quadriplegic and non-verbal. He can’t talk or control his limbs, or even sit up or roll. This of course came as a shock but through connecting to my highest guidance I’ve learned some important lessons!
A Spiritual Perspective On Disability
When you look at severely disabled people like Saafi we may look at them with pity, we may see them as vulnerable and of course, in the physical plain they are vulnerable and he is completely dependent on everyone around him. Yet, even without verbal ability he can make it very clear what he likes and what he wants to do and he has heaps of personality! But are there different ways of looking at this? Could a spiritual perspective reveal deeper truths about disabled children or loved ones?
Connecting To a Loved One’s Highest Guidance.
What has been really affirming is being able to access this guidance has allowed me to communicate directly with Saafi’s soul and his guardian angel. Through this communication, I’ve been able to access a totally different picture of Saafi. His spirit and his guardian angel both say the same the thing; that Saafi is very at peace with his situation and Saafi at a soul level has chosen this challenging life, with agreement from the people around him, like his brother, father and mother.
Saafi has chosen this life a because he is a very evolved soul. I even think he is spiritually more evolved than me! It is so empowering and insightful to be able to tap in to the soul and guardian angel of a loved one who is disabled, especially when they lack verbal communication. It can give you a totally different picture and it has given me a new level of respect for his bravery and strength.
Disabled Children Aren’t Just Here By Accident!
All children pick their parents, they come to them for a reason and Safi is no exception! Safi has taught me to value every moment of life, his near death experiences have radically altered my perspective and helped me cherish every gift I have, I treasure the fact I have limbs that I am able, that I can walk!
I respect and love Safi for his joy and his laughter, his disability hasn’t reduced his love of life. Of course he has sickness and pain, but he is so resilient. If you are in the same situation as me I’m sure we have much to share! But I would love to help you connect not just to your own highest guidance or spirit of your disabled loved one! Spirituality and disability is such an important topic and it does not get discussed enough.
